Loved the bed but.....
Date:August 11, 2012
"I love this bed, however I do not love the price tag for just the mattress. So we have downgraded/upgraded to a P5 with the Flex + base and will see how that goes. I'm sure it will be fine. This mattress has been great. I just can't see spending this amount of money for it. Unfortunately my sales person did not inform me that the flex + base could be added to any of the beds. I thought that it was only available for the top of the line. That is until I did my research AFTER I got home. Shame on my for not doing it before. But thanks to Sleep number I can exchange it with no problem. Looking forward to getting my next bed."

My favorite Sleep Number Bed
Date:May 30, 2012
"I've had Sleep Number beds since 2001. This is my favorite one though. We also got the Flexfit + which makes the bed even better!!! Now that I'm pregnant being able to put my feet up helps a lot. Putting my head up too for my acid reflux and of course watching tv and reading every night. The best part of my i10 is how I can switch my foams. I have both of the memory foams on my side and my hubby has the other ones. We love it - worth every penny!"

Comfortable bed but foam is HOT
Date:May 19, 2013
Pros: Mattress Pads/Comfort Layers, Sheets
"This is our second sleep number bed. When we were looking to purchase a new one we liked the comfort of the i10. After months of sleeping on the bed, we sill enjoy the comfort, but the memory foam is extremely HOT. We tried changing the side of the foam that was up and this had no impact. Now that we are going into the warmer summer months, we are concerned that the bed will be uncomfortable. For the price we paid for a king size i10, we are shocked at the uncomfortable heat put out with the foam (not on our old bed). On warmer days, it's too uncomfortable. If you like to sleep HOT, is bed if for you. If not, buyer beware."

i10 Upgrade
Date:April 17, 2013
Pros: Mattress Pads/Comfort Layers
"Have been a Sleep Number customer for many years now. Upgraded from the 4000 some time ago to the new i10 King. Cannot say enough about this bed! Sleep SO much better, love the height and the service tech's who delivered was a real blessing!!! In the old days, we had to put it all together, now, they do a white glove service that is so worth it!! Also have a 4000 queen I'm going to replace with another i10!! And don't forget the RV, have one in there too!"

Stay away from the split
Date:February 11, 2013
Pros: Pillows, Blankets/Comforters, Sheets, Mattress Pads/Comfort Layers
"First and foremost, this bed is extremely comfortable.
However, because I enjoy my legs slightly elevated when I sleep, and my husband prefers his head elevated, we got the split king. This was our first mistake and the biggest headache we have had to deal with with this bed! If you are let's say, intimate, you will fall in the cracks of this bed. You have to figure out which side you want to be with your partner on.
The first solution for this problem was a package of connecting brackets for the two bases. This was supposed to eliminate the mattresses from coming apart and from drifting. Easy enough- what's another $20 on top of the $8k we've spent so far?
We moved into a home with hardwood floors just to find out the wheels on the FlexFit+ Base do not actually stay locked. So now on top of the brackets shifting with the bed movement, the wheels are now sliding. The solution for this is to purchase rubber caster covers for $15. Again, easy enough, but who is to say this is actually going to fix our problem? We are in South Korea and unfortunately Sleep Number will not ship to our APO, so now we must go two years with this rolling bed.
Another downfall to the split king which should have been obvious to us to begin with was the fact you have to buy sheets twice, make the bed twice. Meaning you buy two twin fitted sheets, and put on two fitted sheets which can be quite time consuming. It's hardly a one person job.
I am very happy with the sleep I get with the i10 split king if I am sleeping alone, but heaven forbid if I want to actually sleep beside my husband. We now wish we bought the modular base with the solid king and would advise any potential customers to do the same."

Not good for couples
Date:December 5, 2012
"I bought a Queen size sleep number i10 in the past. I decided I wanted a King size i10 and gave my old sleep number to my daughter. I made the mistake of buying the SPLIT KING i10 and all these nice comfy layers to put under the performance sheets, which is VERY costly. That was a mistake, because it was basically a bed with alot of cusion. I never felt the Sleep Number adjust to my body. I them off. It felt so much better, BUT I am a kind of sleeper that moves everywhere in there sleep or like to cuddle. This is not the bed to get (the Split King) if your in the same situation because the beds move apart and your falling in between the mattresses. At the store I explained that, that was the biggest concern I had and I was reassured if I bought these straps it wouldn't separate the mattresses. The strap is metal bars that keep the adjustable bases from moving NOT the mattresses. Very disappointed and I am probably going to exchange it for the Eastern King, NOT SPLIT KING,since I have a 30 day trial. I'm not sure if the split king adjustable plus fit base will work with it, I'm hoping so, if the remotes are synced."

Not pleased
Date:November 2, 2012
"Bed was too flimsy on the sides. Very little support. Felt no different than a camping air mattress with a comforter on top. We can't seem to find that ahhhh setting. It did not feel like the same mattress we fell in love with at the store. So disappointed. And the base was too over priced. Product did not meet promises."

Response from Sleep NumberBy Jim FCustomer ServiceNovember 7, 2012
Hi, Busy Mom, thanks for posting. The way a Sleep Number bed supports you is going to feel completely different from an innerspring mattress. On our bed, the air chambers conform to the curvature of your body, and because of this, the heavier parts of your body are going to sink in further than the lighter parts. For those who aren't used to our bed, the tendency is sometimes to set the firmness too high. Here's a link to a short video that will help you to find your optimal firmness setting: http://beds.com/firm-mattress/.

We can assure you that the beds we send to our customers are the very same beds we have in our stores. The only difference is that your bed comes to you brand new, while the display models get a lot of use from people trying them out. If you are not yet getting all you hoped for from the Sleep Number bed, we hope you'll give us a call: we have a team of Comfort Specialists that focus on helping our bed owners to get the most out of our beds. They can be reached at 1-800-472-7185 from 8-6 CT Monday through Friday or from 8:30-5 CT on Saturday.

It hurts!
Date:October 8, 2012
"This bed is quite uncomfortable. Every setting that didn't make my shoulders throb the whole next day made my hips throb! Then there's the problem of that hump in the middle of the bed; makes certain bedroom activities less than fluid/comfortable. Sleep numbers are not consisten either; a sleep number going down from 100 is not the same feeling as when you come up from 20 to the same number. Or, when you wake up wondering why it feels different and press the remote, the sleep number has changed with the ambient temperature. Finding "Your Sleep #" is quite impossible with the inconsistencies. With the I10 in particular, the material is incredibly cheap. I was surprised when I saw just how cheap (e.g, egg crate foam I used 20 years ago.) Not worth the price, for sure. Be advised, the 30 day trial is not a trial, it is an EXTREMELY expensive rental (i.e., $370/month.)"

"My wife and I purchased the I-10 Split King. After two weeks, we are pleased with the bed and the investment, even taking the many unhappy comments into consideration. We did give the value a good rating only because it was a bit over our means. The sales folks and including the delivery folks were great. At this point, we can say excellent in all but the one catagory. Hopefully our initial impression of the I-10 Split King continues indefinately."

"I paid 5,000,00 to much The number bed does not meet what I expected of it. I have a bad back can never work again this bed did not does not help it at all it could be made a lot better than it is now. The sides of the bed should be stronger, the mattress does not stay in place no matter what you do to me the bed should be the best being the number 10. I'm sure no one with your company wants to hear this but I'm telling the truth I've had the bed over one year. I need a new bed can you help? Thank you for your help."

Not so sure about this bed
Date:October 31, 2011
"We purchased this bed after looking at various types of mattresses - traditional, foam and air. We chose this set because it promised great sleep and all the reviews that we read indicated that our back pain would disappear. I have problems with the pressure points on my hips. We have had this bed 3 nights, and for 3 nights I slept in the guest room. I cannot find my number, although in the store, I had no problem. My husband has been able to sleep, but said that it is not as comfortable as he'd hoped or as comfortable as it felt in the store. Tonight, we will switch the foam layers and see if that helps. Otherwise, this bed is going back. I can't justify the amount of money we have spent on an air mattress."

GREAT COMFORT WITH A LARGE PRICE TAG!!!!!!
Date:March 14, 2011
"i just bought my i10 a couple months ago... at first i was trying to grasp the idea that i just spent over $5000 on a bed... im only 27 but my last bed some s$%^#y i bought from sleepys and spent $1500 on lasted about 6 months then it started deforming my back... So back to the i10, i was desperately trying to make my self uncomfortable in the bed so i had a reason to return it. The first week wasnt too bad but i was trying higher sleep numbers which hurt my back still then gradually i found a good number... 30... i relax and watch television at a 50 or so and then when i go to sleep i switch to a 30 and about 5 minutes after i turn the lights out im fast asleep and dreading getting out of this bed in the morning. I wouldnt even think about going back to another spring mattress. I have never slept in those high end memory foam beds so i dont know how they compare to this but i do know once they start to sag, you need to replace the whole mattress but if this bed starts to sag then i might be one peice of material you need to replace which might run you about 200-$250 and its covered for i think 20 years. Its really hard to tell in the store if you like it but they will help you find your sleep number and if you dont like it with in 30 days you return it, of course they get you for a return fee but its just like renting a bed for a month i guess... GET ONE NOW!!!!!!!"

Worth every penny

"I am a recent graduate and I work an unbelieable amount of hours as an accountant. The constant standing and moving around the office leaves me quite restless. I happened to pass a Sleep Number store and was intrigued. I initially was skeptical, but do to the representative giving me detailed accounts of the mattress and why it cost so much more than a traditional, I felt I should give it a try. Well The first night of sleep on the i10 was horrible. Im pretty sensible so I knew that was because I was used to sleeping on another brand. After a week or so, I must admit, I greatly started to appreciate the things it does. Sure, its strange sleeping on air, but I know in the long run I will be happy. The warranty is pretty standard. I think I would much rather pay a couple hundred for a new part than pay $1000 or so for a new bed every few years. I'm very pleased. Good luck to all of you and I hope you can get what I have gotten out of these beds."

Decent Purchase, Terrible Experience
Date:July 11, 2010
"Let me clarify this right off the bat: the product is decent, and the sales people were decent to work with. However, I view the entire experience as part of the purchase.
The fact that Select Comfort pushes a dictatorship-like oversight on its products is troubling enough. Add to that the fact that they are blatantly taking advantage of their monopoly on air beds, I find it disgusting that I pay $4500 for a new mattress and cannot even get home delivery thrown in. Heck, I couldn't even get something taken off of the legs for the foundation. All I left with was a receipt for a $4500 mattress, a $160 delivery fee, $160 legs, and a free travel pillow.
Really? A travel pillow?
That is why I've chosen to make it point whenever someone asks about Select Comport beds to move them away from that decision only because the Corporation is disgustingly shrewd.
Select Comfort may have gained my money, but they also gained a very disgruntled customer that will pass whatever negative feedback I can to anyone that will listen."

Hi there. My name is Stephanie. I am a member of Select Comfort's online Customer Service team. I am very sorry that you are unhappy with the price you paid for your Sleep Number bed. I understand that, in this economy, and in any economy, $4500.00 is a lot of money to spend on a bed. While this is a lot of money, the product is well worth the initial investment. While we are not able to bargain with the pricing of the bed or give you free delivery, we do offer a variety of promotions every month. They might be for financing, a cash discount or for accessories. I am truly sorry that you feel that we do not appreciate your business, as I can assure you that this is not the case. We thank you for your comments and for choosing the Sleep Number bed.

"I did get the bed in less than a week. That was a plus. However I ordered the legs & brackets for the head/foot boards. After getting found out the foot boards were extra & the sales people acted like I was odd for wanting them. Then I got my pillows later in the day from the day of install. For being UPS, that was slow. I pulled the pillows out, and they were standard pillows. I ordered a king sized bed and they thought I wanted standard pillows. Now I have to wait a week to get my pillows. In addition the foundation is made of plastic. It has some rough spots on it from the mold. You will have to sand it down or ruin a pair of pants like I did."

"After my husband left I decided it was time for a new bed... I tried the Temperpedic couldn't stand being stuck in one place all night. I sent it back. Then I tried my Sleep Number I am a 35 absolutely loved it. I always have trouble sleeping as my mind is going a hundred miles an hour. This was not the case with my Sleep Number I have slept soundly for the last 7 years. I wouldn't have made it through the last 7 years without it... I recently came to help my Mother who is 95 in Walnut Creek, I am planning on buying another one as I haven't been able to get a good nights sleep since I have been here. Mine is in storage in San Diego with all of my other belongings...
My married children have also purchased Sleep Number beds as they wanted the quality and the ability to change the settings for more comfort.
Thank you Sleep Number for this wonderful ticket to a good nights sleep.
